Hey all!!!
Do you store ginger in the refrigerator or freezer?
Next time try burying them in dirt along with your outdoor plants. They keep absolutely fresh for many months. When you need some for a recipe, cut off a small piece and keep the remaining buried. It doesn’t have to be deep under ground, just 1-2 inches of soil on top would suffice.
This comes in very handy when you pick up a box of ginger from Costco and it can be stored fresh for several months.
To use, wash ginger well, peel off the skin and use in your recipe.

Great tip! I store mine in the freezer! Keeps good for as long as I need it usually! I guess I wouldn’t want to go unburry it in the winter under the snow.
Wow!! I had no idea! I always have a problem with storage with ginger. Keeping in the fridge just makes them mold – So I usually just leave them out, since they seem to last longer that way! (but then they eventually dry out haha) This is SO COOL! 🙂 I need to try this! Thanks for the tip! 😀
Yes, I’ve tried leaving them out, but doesn’t seem to last a long time. Thanks for stopping by Joyce:)
