Avocado Chicken Burgers

What’s for dinner tonight? These oh-so-delicious avocado chicken burgers with caramelized onions, tomato and lettuce. Oh ya, these babies are heathy too! 

Chicken. Avocado. Caramelized onions. Burger.

Skipped the cheese. 

And you’re not gonna miss it!! 

Go ahead and taste the patty. You might end up making these very often. 

Just so deliciously good. You need to try this.

It’s just a 3-step process-

Mix first 9 ingredients, shape and cook in a skillet. 

Cook sliced onions until they become golden deliciousness. 

Assemble burger. 



Skill level – Intermediate

Avocado Chicken Burgers


1 pound ground chicken

1 large egg

3/4 cup breadcrumbs 

1/2 cup mashed avocado, about 1 large

2 tablespoons finely chopped onion

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon chili flakes

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/8 teaspoon black pepper powder

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 medium onions, halved and sliced

6 hamburger burger buns

1-2 large tomatoes, sliced

lettuce leaves 

6 tablespoons mayonnaise


1. Into a large bowl, combine first 9 ingredients (chicken through black pepper powder), mix well until thoroughly combined. Divide them into 6 equal portions, shape each portion into balls and pat into about 3-inch disc. (Dip your hands in water, for easy shaping)

2. Heat a medium non-stick skillet with 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat. Place 2-3 patties ( as many as your skillet can hold in a single layer). Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until deep golden on both sides, and patty feels firm when pressed gently. Remove onto a plate and cook remaining patties. 

3. Wipe off the skillet with a paper towel, add remaining 1 tablespoon oil and add onions. Cook over medium heat (stirring very often), until onions are golden (5-7 minutes). Transfer onto a bowl. 

4. To assemble burgers – spread some mayo on the bottom bun, top with a avocado chicken patty, some caramelized onions, sliced tomato and lettuce. Spread mayo on the top bun, close burger and dig in. 

Makes 6 medium burgers
