  • 6 slices white bread cut into ½-inch thick slices
  • 6 tablespoons Nutella or as needed
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 3 tablepsoons sugar divided
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Spread Nutella between two slices of bread and press them together to form a sandwich.
  • Add the eggs, milk, two tablespoons sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and salt into a shallow bowl and whisk well to combine.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F and grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  • Place one sandwich at a time into the mixture, soaking each side for about 10 seconds, flipping twice to ensure both sides are well-coated.
  • Place the stuffed French toast in a single layer, air fry for 5 minutes.
  • Flip using a spatula, sprinkle about a teaspoon of sugar on each toast and continue cooking in the same temperature for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the tops look deep golden brown.
  • Repeat the process until all the bread is cooked. Serve hot with a dab of butter and maple syrup!

Notes

Bread thickness: Cut bread slices into about ½-inch thickness.
Types of bread to use: White sandwich bread, brioche, challah, soft Italian or French bread.
Grease the air fryer basket: Spray the basket with oil spray before placing the soaked bread into it to avoid sticking.
Make it without Nutella - Skip the Nutella stuffing and prepare the egg custard as instructed. Dip each slice of bread for about 10 seconds on each side. Air fry at 375°F for 4 minutes, flip, sprinkle with sugar, and continue air frying for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the tops are deep golden.
