Ingredients

4 Ingredient guilt free chocolate hummus

Instructions

  • Add all chickpeas, dates, cocoa powder, vanilla and salt into a food processor and process for about 30 seconds or until it looks coarse.
  • Add water gradually and process for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture reaches a smooth, creamy, and thick consistency. It should be thicker than standard hummus. Start with ½ cup of water, then add more as needed, up to ¾ cup, to achieve the desired texture.
  • Taste the hummus and, if you prefer it sweeter, add a bit of maple syrup and process until well combined.
Serve with cinnamon sugar pita chips and fresh fruit slices.

Notes

Dates - I use soft Medjool dates which grinds very easily in the food processor.
Noor dates - If you are using the Noor variety, then I recommend soaking them in warm water for about 30 minutes before adding into the processor. Adjust water accordingly.
Mixer - A food processor or Vitamix are great options.
Add enough water to get a super smooth and creamy consistency, but still maintain it thick enough to be able to scoop.
