Easy Baked Pears

Easy Baked Pears are simple, cozy, and outrageously delicious! Fresh, ripe pears roasted in a warm cinnamon-vanilla brown sugar caramel sauce. Serve with vanilla ice cream for dessert or with oatmeal for breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 2 bosc pears medium
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 5 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  • Cut each pear into 2 halves and use a spoon or a melon baller to scoop out the core and the blossom end. Cut each half into 3 wedges.
I prefer to leave the stem end intact, as it adds visual interest after baking. However, feel free to remove it if you prefer.
  • Add melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and salt into the baking dish and mix until combined.
  • Add the sliced pears and toss gently until the pear is evenly coated. Spread evenly. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the pears are tender.
  • Remove from oven, place the pan on a wire rack to cool for 5 to 10 minutes. This allows the sauce to thicken slightly into a silky smooth consistency.
  • Gently toss the pears in the sauce before serving, and enjoy them warm or at room temperature, topped with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream.
Leftovers will be delicious topped over oatmeal.

Notes

Types of pear - I prefer using Bosc pears for their thicker skin, which holds up well during baking. Other great options that also work well include Anjou, Bartlett, and Comice varieties.
