Ingredients

  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes
  • 6 tablespoon unsalted butter sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ cup whole milk warmed
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar

Instructions

  • Spray the inside of a slow cooker with cooking spray.
  • Wash and peel the sweet potatoes, cut into ½-inch thick slices and add into the slow cooker.
  • Add the sliced butter, salt, pepper, 2 tablespoons water and give a stir.
  • Cover and cook 4 hours on high or 6 hours on low.
  • Add milk, brown sugar and mash well using a potato masher. Give them a taste and add more salt or brown sugar, if desired.

Notes

Adjust seasonings and brown sugar based on your taste preference.
Add milk gradually since some sweet potatoes may absorb less liquid when compared to others. You can always add more if needed.
Mash when hot for a creamy consistency.
