If you are looking for more easy Easter treats, then try my easy hot cross buns or the butter cookies with Nutella Ganache.

What are Easter nests? They are a popular Easter treat made from melted chocolate mixed with shredded wheat or other similar cereal. The mixture is then shaped into nests and filled with mini chocolate eggs or other Easter candies.

Chocolate Easter Nests are not only cute, but they're also really tasty. I used store bought peanut butter cups and topped them with shredded coconut coated in melted chocolate and then placed mini candy eggs.

You could also use our homemade sun butter cups or almond butter cups instead of peanut butter cups. They're ideal for class parties, playdates, or whenever you need a quick and fun treat that's hassle-free!

ingredients needed to make chocolate coconut nests.

All you need is a few ingredients and minutes to make these fun little Easter nests. Check them out below.

    1. Chocolate chips - I like to use semi sweet chocolate for these Easter nests, but you can use white, dark or milk chocolate chips.
    2. Coconut - We use sweetened shredded coconut which added the perfect sweetness when combined with melted chocolate.
    3. Mini Cadbury eggs - Any egg shaped candy like malt eggs, jelly beans can be used.
    4. Nut butter cups - Use store bought peanut butter cups to make a super easy treat.

    Substitutions & Variations

    1. Not a fan of coconut? Try using crushed cornflakes.
    2. Use any store bought or homemade nut butter cup.
    3. Use jelly beans or Easter M&Mโ€™s instead of mini eggs.
    4. Switch up the chocolate and use milk, dark or white chocolate chips instead of semi sweet chocolate chips.
    5. Skip coconut oil or use butter instead.
    6. Add flavorings like vanilla or almond extract to flavor Easter nests.

    How to store?

Once you have made your chocolate Easter nests, place them in an airtight container in the fridge. They will keep well for up to a week. Itโ€™s great for making ahead before Easter celebrations.

    Recipe tips

    • Once assembled, I like to refrigerate Easter nests for at least 4 hours to help the chocolate harden.
    • Use sweetened shredded coconut.
    • Nut butter cups - Use store bought or homemade peanut butter cups, almond butter cups or sun butter cups.
    • Eggs - We like to use mini Speckled Chocolate Malt balls from Sprouts or mini candy eggs to make Easter nests.
