Cheesy Baked Ravioli is the easiest pasta dish for busy weeknights yet impressive enough to serve guests. With no cooking or boiling required, just layer the ingredients and bake it in the oven. Plus, there are only 5 ingredients!
What is baked ravioli? This incredibly simple pasta dish resembles lasagna but requires much less effort. It features layers of ravioli nestled in a creamy pink sauce, all topped with a generous layer of cheese and baked to perfection, like the chicken baked ziti.
If you are wondering what to do with ravioli, then this no boil pasta dish is a must try! What I love most about this baked ravioli casserole is that you don’t need to boil the ravioli beforehand.
Instead, like in instant pot pasta recipes, the ravioli cooks directly in the sauce as it bakes, soaking up all the delicious flavors and ensuring that each piece turns out perfectly tender.
It’s often referred to as a "lazy lasagna" and is a lifesaver for busy weeknights! With just five ingredients and a few minutes of prep, this dump-and-go ravioli casserole is sure to become a family favorite that everyone will love!

Ingredients
Scroll down to the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and amounts.
- Ravioli - I used 20 ounce pack of refrigerated cheese ravioli, but any filling option that you like will work!
- Marinara sauce - I love to use Prego, tomato basil and garlic for this ravioli.
- Heavy cream - It adds a rich, creamy flavor that pairs beautifully with the cheeses, making the pasta dish a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
- Cheeses - Mozzarella is layered between the ravioli and topped with parmesan. The no boil baked ravioli recipe calls for 2 to 3 cups of mozzarella: use 3 cups for an indulgently cheesy dish, or stick with 2 cups for a simpler baked pasta casserole.
How to make?
You can find full printable recipe below, but here is a quick overview of the procedure along with step-by-step photos.
Pro tip: Prepare two smaller casseroles in 8-inch square pans. Bake one now, and freeze the other for a convenient meal later!
Step 9 - Cover with a foil and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes. Uncover and broil for 3 to 5 minutes to brown the top.
Make ahead instructions
You can prep this cheesy baked ravioli casserole in advance and keep it stashed in the fridge or freezer until you’re ready to bake it!
- Refrigerator: Assemble the dish according to the instructions, then cover the pan tightly with foil and refrigerate for up to 2 days. Before baking, let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, or add an extra 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time.
- Freezer: Assemble the dish according to the instructions, then cover the pan tightly with foil and freeze the unbaked casserole for up to 3 months. Let it fully thaw in the fridge for 24 hours prior to baking.
Recipe tips
- Feeding a smaller family? Cut the recipe in half and prepare the baked ravioli pasta in a 8x8 inch square pan.
- Frozen ravioli - If using frozen ravioli, then there is no knead to thaw it. Just add 15 minutes of additional baking time. Check out this easy ravioli lasagna made with frozen cheese ravioli.
- Ravioli filling - I chose cheese ravioli for a cheesy baked pasta dish reminiscent of lasagna. However, you can easily substitute with other fillings like four cheese, meat, mushroom, spinach and ricotta, or pesto for a different twist!
- Use a broiler safe casserole dish for the baked ravioli.
💡 Cooking frozen ravioli without cooking: It’s a convenient way to prepare a delicious meal without the hassle of boiling! The frozen ravioli thaws and cooks tenderly in the sauce, absorbing all the flavors and eliminating an extra cooking step. This method ensures that the pasta becomes flavorful and perfectly tender as the dish bakes.
