This 4-Ingredient Bang Bang Sauce is absolutely irresistible! Sweet, spicy, and creamy, it’s the perfect complement to seafood, meat, and vegetables. You'll want to drizzle it on everything!
This sweet and spicy sauce is good with almost anything! I especially love it with the oven baked bang bang cauliflower or the air fried bang bang chicken thighs.

What is bang bang sauce? It is a creamy, spicy, and slightly sweet sauce known for its bold, flavorful kick, making it a favorite for those who enjoy a balance of heat and sweetness, like our hot honey.
It is ideal for drizzling over seafood, especially shrimp dishes like the air fryer shrimp, or as a dipping sauce for fried foods and vegetables.

Ingredients needed
All you need are 4 easy to find ingredients:
- Mayonnaise: It is the creamy base of a classic restaurant style sauce.
- Sweet chili sauce: Known as Thai or Asian sweet chili sauce, it’s a sweet, savory, tangy, and spicy blend of red chilies, garlic, ginger, sugar, and vinegar. I recommend Mae Ploy, which is widely available in supermarkets and on Amazon.
- Sriracha: Adds the heat in the sweet and spicy sauce. Feel free to use according to your heat tolerance.
- Garlic powder: It adds a subtle hint of garlic that you may not immediately notice, but it enhances the flavor in a understated way.

What to serve it with?
When I say it’s good with everything, I mean it! In addition to the baked cauliflower bites and chicken thighs I mentioned earlier, it’s perfect with chicken dishes like the air-fried chicken nuggets, baked chicken cutlets and the grilled chicken thighs or instead of the sriracha mayo for the air fryer breaded shrimp.
You can also drizzle it over air-fried baby potatoes for an extra burst of flavor! You’ll want to put it on everything from fries and burgers to shrimp and chicken.
Frequently asked questions
No, they are not the same. While both are creamy, mayo-based sauces, bang bang sauce is spicier and sweeter, featuring sweet chili sauce. In contrast, yum yum sauce is milder, tangier with a hint of vinegar, and made with ketchup instead of sweet chili sauce.
If you love the flavor of garlic, you can use a small clove of finely grated garlic. However, keep in mind that raw garlic is more pungent and can impact the overall taste of the sauce. I prefer garlic powder, as it adds a subtle garlic flavor without overpowering the other ingredients.
It will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 4 or 5 days when stored in a covered container.
It’s not recommended to freeze creamy mayo-based sauces, as the mayonnaise can separate and become watery, which affects the texture once thawed.
