When our children were young, chicken nuggets with ketchup or fish sticks with some tartar sauce used to be huge hits. Now that they are well into their teens, they enjoy meals that are packed with chock-full of flavor. YAY!

    How to cook fish sticks?

    In Air fryer

Set the air fryer to 400 degrees F and air fry for 8 minutes. Flip them over and cook for additional 2 to 4 minutes or until crispy. If you want them super crispy, leave in an extra minute or so.

    In Oven

Set the oven to 425 degrees F and bake for 15 to 17 minutes or until golden brown. Flip them over after about 10 minutes to give a crispy crust.

    How to char tortillas?

    In a gas stove

Using tongs, place tortilla, one at a time, directly over low-medium flame. As soon as it starts to brown, flip to color the other side and then take off heat.

    In an electric stove

Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat and let it get very hot. Place a tortilla on the skillet and turn over when it feels warm to the touch, turn over and let warm for a few seconds and quickly keep them wrapped in a clean kitchen towel.

    In a skillet

Cook tortillas in a cast iron skillet – Place them in a hot cast iron skillet, for about 15 to 30 seconds on each side. You want to look few browned or darkened spots on both sides. Keep them warm wrapped in a clean kitchen towel.

    Flour or Corn Tortillas?

Corn tortillas is the way to go for simple fish tacos. It helps to boost the overall flavor profile. Flour ones are more suitable for burritos, wraps or quesadillas.

    Are fish sticks healthy?

Yes! Fish is generally high in protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins and nutrients like iodine, selenium, and vitamin B12.

Can I use homemade fish sticks?

Hi lins, You could serve oven roasted brussel sprouts or broccoli (let me know if you need instructions) along with the tacos for a simple meal.
Alternatively, if you need more fancier options then here are few suggestions from fellow bloggers -

These totally do not need a side dish! There's already protein, vegetables, a little fat, and carbs. We love these tacos.

This was our Friday Lenten meal and we were not disappointed! I will make it again and also use the sauce with other taco recipes and taco salads. The jalapeno and red onion really kicked it up a notch!
