Main ingredients:
Standard Mocha ingredients – Cocoa powder, coffee, milk and vanilla extract.
Other ingredients to be made into a cake – All purpose flour, baking powder, vegetable oil and a pinch of salt
How to make mocha mug cake?
Pour milk into a microwave safe mug and stir in instant coffee to dissolve.
Add all other ingredients to the chai infused milk and stir well, until smooth and lump free. Microwave for about 90 seconds and enjoy piping hot with a BIG scoop of whipped cream.
Expert tips:
Stir batter until lump-free – Using a spoon, stir the cake batter until smooth and no lumps remain.
Mug – A standard size microwave coffee mug works for this recipe. Please do not choose a smaller one.
Microwaves differ – This recipe was tested in two different microwaves and it took 90 seconds in one and 95 seconds in the other.
Best eaten hot – Enjoy this cake HOT! As with mug cakes, some might dry out a little when left at room temperature.
Be generous with whipped cream - This cake is truly decadent with a LOT of whipped cream <--- It is a dessert after all

Enjoy mocha cake in a mug hot as soon as you remove from the microwave with big scoop of whipped cream. Some mug cakes (depending on the type of microwave used) might get a little dry if left at room temperature for a long period of time.

Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee
- ¼ cup all purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- Add milk and instant coffee into a microwave safe coffee mug and stir until coffee is dissolved.
- Add all remaining ingredients and stir well until well combined and smooth.
- Microwave for about 90 seconds (DO NOT OPEN THE MICROWAVE IN BETWEEN). This recipe was tested in two different microwaves and it took 90 seconds in one and 95 seconds in the other.
- Remove mug from microwave, top with a BIG scoop of whipped cream and enjoy!
