crispy chicken wings with lemon pepper seasoning.

Chicken wings are always a family favorite around here. They can be baked, grilled, fried or air fried, tossed in Bbq, buffalo, teriyaki, garlic parmesan, Korean, Sweet chili sauces and enjoyed as an appetizer for game day or a light dinner with a side salad. They are simply the best!

Recipes made with very few ingredients are always one of my go-to like Alfredo noodles, egg fried rice, chickpea salad, pesto pasta or Buttered noodles. One of our favorite wings is the lemon pepper wings from Wingstop. The perfectly seasoned wing with zesty lemon and cracked black pepper is hard to beat.

This homemade wing recipe uses all pantry ingredients and some fresh chicken wings from the grocery store. We recommend using a good jar of lemon pepper seasoning.

Expert tips

Pat dry – It is very important for the wings to not have any moisture to ensure crispy wings. So, pat them dry with paper towels.

Cooking temperature – Since the wings are made without breading, they are cooked at two different temperatures to guarantee crispiness. First, at a medium heat to cook and then at a higher temperature to crisp up.

Place them in a single layer – Spread them out so that they are in a single layer and not overlapping.

Seasoning – We used Lawry’s and used 2 tablespoons of seasoning for 2 pounds since we love a well seasoned wing! However, you could use your favorite brand and the quantity that you like.

Do not over cook – Remove wings as soon as they are done cooking. Cooking them longer than needed might make them dry out and not be as juicy.

Using whole wings – If you have whole wings then cut the drummettes and flats separately, discarding the wing tip. We used pre cut wings for convenience.

Air Fryer size – We used 6-quart Instant vortex air fryer and was able to cook 2 pounds wings in a single layer. If you have a smaller air fryer then we recommend cooking in two batches or you simply want to cook only a pound of wings then here are the instructions-
