These Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Wings are simply the best ever! Seasoned to perfection, they are garlicky, buttery, juicy tender and made in under 30 minutes.

Who doesn’t love a chicken wing? Bbq, buffalo, honey garlic, teriyaki, baked, grilled, fried, crispy, saucy……. they are simply the best appetizer for any game day, kid favorite or a light dinner with a side salad.

The combination garlic, butter and parmesan is certainly one of my favorite flavors. The aroma of cooking garlic in butter is pure magical!!! Main ingredients

Chicken wings – We used a mix of drummettes and wingettes

Butter – Unsalted butter (reduce salt if using salted butter)

Garlic – Loads for minced fresh garlic

Seasonings – Salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder and paprika.

Parsley – Minced fresh parsley or dried parsley

Flour – Just a tablespoon of all purpose flour to give some crispiness

How to make garlic parmesan wings in air fryer?

Prep wings – Stir flour, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder together and toss chicken wings, until evenly coated.

Air Fry – Cook wings at 350°F for 15 minutes and then at 400°F for 5 minutes.

Coat in garlic parmesan sauce – Cook minced garlic and butter in very low flame, until garlic begins to get pale in color. Immediately, pour into a bowl and stir along with red pepper flakes, salt, garlic powder and parsley. Once wings are done cooking, transfer them into the garlic butter and toss well to combine. Stir in grated parmesan.

Serve hot!

Expert tips

Cooking temperature – The wings are cooked at two different temperatures. First, at a medium heat to cook the wings and then at a higher temperature to crisp up.

Pat dry – Patting the chicken wings dry with paper towels will help them in crisping up.

Do not over lap – Spread out wings so that they are in a single layer. I used 6-quart Instant vortex air fryer and was able to cook 2 pounds wings in a single layer.

Parsley – Don’t have fresh parsley? Use a teaspoon of dried parsley instead.

How to cook one pound of chicken wings? Halve the recipe but adjust the cooking time and temperature —> Cook for 12 minutes at 325°F and then for 4 minutes at 375°F.

Can this recipe be made ahead? To make ahead for a party/gathering, follow these steps:

  1. Cook wings and let it stand at room temperature for several hour.
  2. Chop garlic and refrigerate in a covered container.
  3. Few minutes before serving, cook garlic butter and stir HOT BUTTER along with minced parsley, garlic powder, salt and parmesan cheese with the wings and serve immediately.

How long to cook wings in the air fryer?

These wings are cooked to two different temperatures – First at a medium 350 degrees for 15 minutes to cook the wings and then at hot 400 degrees for 5 minutes to crisp up.

Can you stack chicken wings in the air fryer?

Stacking wings will end up steaming them instead of crisping up. Hence, wings need to be placed in a single layer without over lapping.

Can we use chicken drumsticks instead?

We do not recommend drumsticks, since they take much longer to cook.

Can these garlic parmesan wings be made in oven?

Absolutely! Toss wings with the dry rub, place on wire rack lined baking sheet (in a single layer) and bake in a pre heated 400°F for about 40 minutes and then toss them in garlic butter mixture as soon as they are done baking.

How do I know they’re done cooking?

Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the wing. It should register 165° F.

These Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Wings are simply the best ever! Seasoned to perfection, they are garlicky, buttery, juicy tender and made in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, patted dry

Dry seasoning

Garlic butter

Air Fry Chicken Wings


1. Stir all dry seasoning ingredients in a large bowl, add chicken wings and toss until evenly combined.

2. Pre heat air fryer to 350°F for 15 minutes. When ready, place wings in a single layer and cook ( don't need to flip over).

3. After timer is over, cook for 5 more minutes at 400°F.

(Make garlic butter while the chicken is cooking)

Make Garlic butter

1. Add butter and chopped garlic in a small sauce pan, cook over very low heat. Once the butter melts, cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes (stirring occasionally), until garlic begins to get pale golden (don't let it get darker in color.

2. Pour garlic butter into a large bowl along with parsley, red pepper flakes, salt and garlic powder and give a good stir.

Finish wings

1. When timer goes off, transfer hot chicken wings into the bowl and stir until evenly combined. Stir in parmesan and serve hot.
