Nutella Mug Brownie is ready in 90 seconds! Rich, decadent, fudgy Nutella brownie in a mug is a single serve recipe, made with just 4 ingredients.

    Happy early Valentines Day!!

How are you gonna celebrate? Are you the "Dress up...fancy dinner... wine..." kind or the "pjs... cozy on the couch" kind?

I am totally the second category. Especially on a weekday, after work/kids school, homework, activities....on the couch it is!!

Dinner, dessert, open our favorite bottle of wine.....the best date night.

Here is a dessert for you to consider.

    NUTELLA MUG BROWNIE

It is gotta be one easy Nutella dessert that you will ever make, just like this oven version chocolate Nutella muffins recipe. Why do I think that this is gonna become your GO-TO guilty pleasure?

    • Only 4 ingredients
    • Easiest (simply stir and cook)
    • Quick (90 seconds)
    • Rich
    • Fudgy
    • Serves one
    • D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S

Why do I love this microwave Nutella brownie?

Because, it is just the perfect size to satisfy my chocolate craving. Not a gigantic portion. I can't even begin to tell you how many times that I end up eating the entire dessert (or anything for that matter), just because it is there.

This recipe takes care of that issue. Portion control for the win!!!

    Main ingredients:

Nutella - The best thing out of a jar. Ever.

Milk - Preferably whole milk, but reduced fat is ok. Not fat free. It is a dessert after all!

All purpose flour - just a tablespoon

Cocoa powder - I used dutch processed

Salt - A pinch of salt goes a long way in dessert recipes (please note that salt is not counted as an ingredient).

How to make Nutella Mug Cake?

Step-1: Add Nutella, milk, all purpose flour and cocoa powder into a microwave safe mug or a 4-ounce ramekin.

Step-2: Stir well until thoroughly smooth.

Step-3: Cook in microwave for 90 seconds.

Step-4: Remove, let cool for few seconds, top brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and strawberries (optional).

    Dig in.

    Expert tips:

If using a fresh jar of Nutella, make sure to give a good stir before using.

Stir well - Due to thick consistency of Nutella, it takes a bit of stirring to be mixed in completely. So, make sure it is completely smooth.

Time - Some readers found that the cake wasn't cooked through in the mentioned time. So, upon further testing in different microwaves, we learned that some microwaves needed 5 to 25 seconds longer.

You can use any microwave safe coffee mug for the recipe. Just make sure that it not a big one, since this Nutella mug brownie no egg makes just one serving.

A 4-ounce ramekin works great for this measurement as well. It comes in handy when you want to serve this as a dessert.

If making in a ramekin - I used a 4 ounce ramekin which was perfect for this recipe and it was too small to stir ingredients in it. So, I preferred to mix all ingredients in a seperate bowl, transfer to the ramekin and cook.

    Serving suggestions:

Nutella Brownie in a Mug is delicious as is but amazing with a scoop vanilla ice cream. Hot, deep dark chocolately Nutella mug cake recipe with cold vanilla ice cream is just too good that you have to taste to believe.

    Few more topping ideas:

    • whipped cream and/or strawberries
    • coarse sea salt
    • drizzle of Nutella
    • Dusting of confectioners sugar
    • Vanilla ice cream

a white bowl with fresh strawberries, a wooden bowl with whipped cream along with a spoon and a white ramekin with fudgy nutella brownie

When is a good time for this microwave Nutella brownie?

    • Dessert
    • Late night craving
    • After school treat
    • Snack time
    • Every time you crave for something chocolate or sweet.

Nutella is so addicting, so this is some built win portion control. Because if it was a whole cake, I would probably eat more than I should hahahah. I love quick and easy mug cakes like these 🙂

Hiya, I don’t know what it is about the recipe but it won’t turn into a cake for me :/// it just comes out liquidy and gooey?? Possibly the amount of milk. I recommend 1- 1 1/2 Tablespoons of milk rather than 3 to avoid this. Thanks

Hi Rebecca, I'm so sorry to hear that.
Is it possible that you used GF flour? OR Was it a new jar of Nutella and you used, without stirring?
Flour + cocoa powder + Nutella (since it has hazel nuts in them) will thicken when combined with 3 tablespoons milk.
        Hope it helps:)

Hi Sel, I'm so sorry to hear this. However, we tried further testing in different microwaves and learned that, it takes about 5 to 30 seconds longer in some. We have updated the recipe accordingly. Again, our sincere apologies and wishing you happy and safe holidays:)

I tried this on a whim (at 1 am mind you)..oh my GOODNESS. Mind-blowing. Probably the best mug cake I've tried, and I've tried a LOT.

I added just a touch of melted butter in as well, which made it all the better. can't recommend this one enough!

Didn’t workout for me as well. I’m using a vegan Nutella and oat milk with gluten free flour. If I’m being honest, I still ate it though haha
