    Oreo Mug Cake

Easy, single serve, made from scratch that is deep chocolatey flavored with oreo cookies. You just have to mix ingredients in a coffee cup and microwave for 90 seconds. Some of our favorite microwave desserts include Mango Mug Cake, Apple Mug Cake, Chai Cake or Lemon mug Cake from Scratch.

If you are on Tiktok then you might have seen the viral recipe that is made with just 2 or 3 ingredients by crushing oreo cookies. Inspired by that we have modified this Mocha Mug Cake and have created an amazing dessert that in our humble opinion tastes delicious and is sure to satisfy your chocolate or oreo cookie craving.

It's perfect with a glass of milk anytime or late night dessert. Although this is not as quick and easy as the Tiktok version, it is an amazingly decadent recipe that you have to try.

    WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS?

    1. Single Serving – Single serve desserts are perfect for light night snack or for the kiddo with a tall glass of ice cold milk.
    2. Cooks in 90 Seconds – Microwave cooks the dessert in under 2 minutes making it perfect to satisfy a sweet craving with less effort.
    3. Taste and Texture - It's like a moist, fluffy dark chocolate gateau flavored with cookies.

Can you prepare the batter in advance?

No. This is a very easy recipe that is made by just mixing all ingredients in a coffee cup. We do not recommend preparing the batter in advance, as it might get gummy.

Can I replace milk with water?

Water cannot add that richness and flavor that milk does. Can anyone argue with the combination of milk and cookies? You can use plant based milks such as almond milk instead.

    How To Crush Oreos?

Place 4 cookies in a small zip lock bag, seal and crush using a meat mallet. If you do not own a meat mallet then you can use a rolling pin, back of a heavy flat bottomed skillet or pan.

Alternatively, you can use a small Nutribullet, mini food processor or dry grinder. Make sure to crush them into a powder and not in chunks.

    INGREDIENTS

    1. Oreo cookies - Use classic Oreos. We haven't tested the recipe with other varieties.
    2. Flour - Regular all purpose flour
    3. Sugar - Regular white granulated sugar
    4. Cocoa powder - We used Hersheys 100% cocoa (naturally unsweetened)
    5. Baking powder - Use baking powder and not baking soda
    6. Milk - We used regular whole milk. Use non-dairy milk such as almond milk if needed
    7. Oil - Vegetable or corn oil

    HELPFUL TIPS

    • Stir batter until lump free – Using a spoon, stir the batter until smooth and no lumps remain.
    • Best eaten hot – As with microwave desserts, some might dry out a little when left at room temperature. So, enjoy HOT!
    • Crush cookies very fine - Make sure that the cookies are finely crushed and powdery for the best texture.

    Topping Ideas

While this is delicious warm as is, a few toppings will elevate this dessert. Here are a few suggestions:

    1. Whipped cream - The combination of cookies and cream is hard to beat.
    2. Vanilla ice cream
    3. Sliced fruits such as bananas, strawberries or raspberries.
    4. Chocolate syrup
    5. Nutella
    6. Toasted chopped nuts
