These Avocado Truffles are made using creamy avocado instead of heavy cream. They are made using only 4 ingredients and are super creamy, rich and decadent!
Chocolate truffles are one of the Holiday staples. They are luxurious and decadent candy made primarily from chocolate and cream and are known for their rich, creamy texture.
In this avocado truffles recipe, I replace the heavy cream with mashed avocado. The luscious, creamy texture of mashed avocado seamlessly mirrors the richness of heavy cream.
It also adds richness, imparting a velvety smoothness, like the almond butter truffles. Moreover, unlike heavy cream, avocado brings various health benefits, making these candies indulgent and a healthier treat.
Surprisingly, like the chocolate avocado muffins recipe, these truffles do not taste like avocado! So, the next time your sweet craving strikes, remember these decadent homemade truffles.

- Only 4 simple ingredients, making it a great 5 ingredient dessert recipe.
Ingredients
Scroll down to the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and amounts.
- Avocado - Like for my avocado smoothie, Ensure you select ripe avocado with a vibrant green color without any dark spots. The flesh should yield slightly to gentle pressure when pressed.
- Chocolate -I recommend using the best quality semi sweet chocolate chips you can find for all homemade dessert recipes.
- Coconut oil - It adds healthy fats as in all coconut oil recipes. If you are not a fan of coconut oil then use unsalted butter or ghee.
- Vanilla extract and salt - For flavoring like in all dessert recipes.
How To make?
You can find full printable recipe below, but here is a quick overview of the procedure along with step-by-step photos.
1.Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwavable safe bowl.
2. Microwave for 90 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds or until mostly melted. Remove from microwave and stir until completely melted and smooth.
3 & 4. Add mashed avocado, vanilla extract and salt. Stir until mixed well.
Pro tip: Mash your avocado smooth without any lumps. To mash avocado, halve a ripe avocado, score the flesh with a small pairing knife, and scoop it onto a plate. With the back of a spoon, mash it until it reaches a supremely smooth and lump-free consistency.
If you are doubling or tripling the avocado truffles recipe to make a bigger batch, you can use a mini food processor to mash it smooth.

5. Allow the mixture to sit at room temperature for a few hours to achieve a soft, thickened dough-like consistency. Alternatively, for a quicker result, refrigerate it for 20 to 30 minutes. Once thickened, use a tablespoon to scoop out portions and gently roll them between your palms until they form smooth balls.
Roll avocado truffles in your favorite toppings.

Helpful tips
- Mash avocado until smooth and lump free.

Just making these now! One thing I would say is to make sure your avocado is at room temperature or slightly warmed up in the microwave for a few secs before adding to the chocolate - mine was too cold and the chocolate seized - I managed to save it by microwaving the mixture so it was all good in the end!

Hi Fiona, Thank you for the tip, we have included it in the recipe notes so that it might be helpful to our readers. Cold avocado should generally not be a problem since the melted chocolate is much warmer. Have a wonderful Holiday season - Maria
